SIRC provides care at nominal cost, which is based according to the patients' circumstances and their ability to pay. Many patients cannot afford to pay, even a little.
The actual cost of running the centre is 63,000 dollars per year; less than 1% comes from the Nepalese government, everything else comes from donor support, voluntary contributions and fundraising activities.
That means we must raise around 200$ every working day, just to keep the doors open! This is only for 30 patients. With the new centre we will be providing more facilities and caring for 43 patients when the cost will rise to around $90,000 in 2008.
It's a challenging task we set for our fundraisers - and it takes the energy, enthusiasm and generosity of many people.
Whether you give your time, skills, money, or your energy to SIRC, you can find your own special way of saying
"
I'm in and willing to help" the less able return to sustainable lives in Nepal.
